We are blessed to have two priests serving our parish and school community. Father Maassen and Father Truss are both committed to supporting the mission of Catholic Education and Sacred Heart Catholic School specifically. They are a visible presence within the school community and they engage with the children on a regular basis.
School Masses:
Our students in grades 1 through 8 celebrate the Eucharist twice a week. They attend Mass by class level at least one day a week and celebrate as a whole school each Friday with Kindergarten joining them. These liturgies are opportunities for the students to actively participate as they serve as readers, lectors, choir members, altar servers, etc.
Traditions:
At Sacred Heart, we value the opportunity to share the richness of the Church’s traditions with our students. We have All School Prayer Services to honor the seasons of Advent and Lent. We also gather for a Living Rosary and May Crowning during the school year. Each day concludes with school-wide prayer and we regularly weave the stories of the saints into our days.
Service Opportunities:
We engage in numerous outreach efforts focused on offering support to those in our surrounding community as well as the world at large. These range from drives to collect monetary donations for various groups to holding a “SOUPer Bowl” to gather canned goods for the pantry at Circle of Concern. We value deeply the importance of helping our students learn to appreciate all that God has blessed them with by helping them develop a stewardship mindset.
